Many Pythagoreans, in the future, will soon be in places of power and prominence. Members of Pythagoras are the heritage from which are provided the leaders of tomorrow. Many young men of today need Pythagorean teaching and high principles in their formative years of life to adulthood. It is comforting to note that the principles and truth of Masonic teachings date back to the very beginning of time, and these provide the guidance, advice and counsel through which Pythagoreans may prosper. By following these teachings, the leaders of our boys believe that young men learn to be better citizens and leaders, thereby providing a better world of tomorrow.

  Maryland KOP Program

In 1995 the late Most Worshipful Grand Master, The Honorable Samuel T. Daniels, Sr., began the KOP Youth Program in this jurisdiction. He named R.W. Brother Earl H. Matthews, 2nd , as State Director to get the Program up and running, for the Jurisdiction of Maryland.
After establishing approximately fifteen councils, to include one council in Germany, Brother Matthews handed the State Dictatorship over to R.W. Brother Novell Washington, who expertly guided the councils through 2010.
In 2010 M.W. Grand Master, Shelton D. Redden, deciding that the Knights of Pythagoras should serve as a mentoring program for the youth of the various Districts throughout the state. In continuing the same theme, M.W. Grand Master. Melvin M. Thorpe indicated his desire that we train our Youth in Leadership, Responsibility and Brotherhood.
KOP Councils- consist of adult supervision referred to as Sir Knights (Master Masons). The youth are referred to as Youth Knights. The council is made up of at least fifteen (15) youth officers. The Master Knight serves as the youth leader of the group, the Senior Knight (2nd in command), and Junior Knight (3rd in command) serves as his primary officers. There is a Youth Recorder (Secretary), Youth Treasurer, and a Youth Chaplain just to name a few. The councils meet once or twice a month.

A Prince Hall Mason who cares about the development and growth of the youth
A Prince Hall Mason who strives together to prepare our Youth Knights to be leaders of tomorrow.

Membership
Membership is not limited to sons or relatives of Freemasons, but to any boy of good character in the proper age range. He must be recommended by a Master Mason or a fellow Pythagorean. The Order of Pythagoreans is not a Junior Masonic Order, but is merely under Masonic supervision.
The paramount aim of the Order is to serve the Youth of our community with a well organized and supervised program to promote health, social activity, educational, vocational, character, and all-around development of boys throughout the City, while building better sons of today, and men of tomorrow.
The Ritual is the focal point of all of the Order's programming. Through it, the candidate in his initiation into the Order is presented impressive lessons. This investiture thus attempts to symbolize and teach Reverence for God, Love and Honor his Parents, Righteous Thinking, Purity, Patriotism, Toleration, Courtesy, Friendship and Constancy. A Pythagoreans aim is to become a better son, a better youth and citizen than ever before.
